Dub Mentor is joined by Chinese poet and experimental sound artist Yan Jun for a version of The Clash’s song.
The single includes 3 tracks: vocal + instrumental versions of Guns of Brixton and a remastered version of the previous Dub Mentor collaboration with Yan Jun - Hello, Mad Dog is Out of Home.
Guest musicians are Karni Postel (amplified cello), Hilla Epstein (cello), Issar Tennenbaum (drums), Micha Davis (bass trombone), Keren Tannenbaum (violin) and Tal Weiss (glockenspiel, backing vocals). No computer generated sounds are present in these recordings.
The music was arranged and produced by Dub Mentor and co-produced by Lior Suliman and Tal Weiss.
“Spectacular. Strange and delicious collaboration… amazing version.” (RNE 3)
“Blending gold with the dust of the road, mud with rain and the smell of beer to an exotic fragrance… Get it.” (Sounds Behind The Corner)
"As covers of Clash songs go, this is totally unrecognisable from its source, which can only be a good thing…. They all come together to create a slowly building but muted martial rhythm over which Yan Jun’s inimitable voice almost whispers the lyric in Chinese." (The Wire)
